Kansainväliset unitutkimusseurat
Näillä sivuilla tarjotaan linkit kansainvälisiin unialan seuroihin ja yhdistyksiin.
The World Federation of Sleep Research & Sleep Medicine Societies (WFSRSMS) perustettiin vuonna 1987. Se määrittelee tehtävänsä seuraavasti: ”to encourage international collaborations, facilitate the generation and dissemination of information, and increase public awareness of the importance of sleep research and the impact of sleep disorders.” Siihen kuuluu 7 kansainvälistä jäsenjärjestöä.
World Association of Sleep Medicine (WASM) on vuonna 2003 perustettu unilääketieteen kansainvälinen kattojärjestö. Järjestö määrittelee tehtävänsä seuraavasti: ” The goal of the Association is to advance knowledge about sleep and sleep disorders among health care personnel and among the public worldwide.” SUS päätti vuosikokouksessaan 2005 liittyä tähän järjestöön.
European Sleep Research Society (ESRS). Euroopan unitutkimusjärjestöjä yhdistävä seura, johon SUS jäsenjärjestönä kuuluu. Järjestö määrittelee itsensä seuraavasti: ESRS ”is an international scientific non-profit organization and promotes all aspects of sleep research.”
Sleep Research Society (SRS). Järjestö sai alkunsa Yhdysvalloissa vuosina 1961-1962 epämuodollisesta unitutkijoiden ryhmästä, joka 1964 omaksui nimekseen ”Association for the Psychophysiological Study of Sleep” (APSS). Sittemmin 1980 -luvulla järjestö vaihtoi nimensä nykyiseen muotoonsa. Nykyisin siinä on noin 900 jäsentä ja sen määrittelee tehtävänsä seuraavasti: ”the SRS strives to promote understanding of the processes of sleep and its disorders through research, the training of practitioners of research and the dissemination of the fruits of their efforts to the scientific and medical communities as well as the general public.”
American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). Unilääketieteen ammattilaisten järjestö, joka määrittelee tehtävänsä seuraavasti: ” The AASM’s mission is to assure quality care for patients with sleep disorders, promote the advancement of sleep research and provide public and professional education.”
Associated Professional Sleep Societies (APSS) on kahden edellä mainitun järjestön yhteistyöjärjestö.
