On behalf of the NSRS and the Local Organising Committee, it is our pleasure to invite you to the 15th Nordic Sleep Conference, which will be held in Denmark, Copenhagen, 6th – 8th June 2013. We hope that the meeting will provide a positive atmosphere, where sleep experts, assistants, psychologists, technicians, students and others with an interest in sleep can exchange ideas and knowledge, and can observe the latest developments in Nordic sleep research and sleep medicine.

The conference will take place at the Hotel Scandic Copenhagen which is situated in the centre of Copenhagen. Hotel Scandic Copenhagen brings Copenhagen attractions to your doorstep.

The grant recipient has the possibility to present the study at the ResMed Nordic Sleep Expert Meeting in Barcelona (at ERS), September 10, 2013.

The amount of the grant is 10.000 Euros, and the committee reserves the right to split the grant between several applicants if deemed necessary.

The application should include an A4 page (maximum), covering the following points:

Applicant(s): name(s) and title(s), Hospital and clinic, Brief description of the study including purpose, timeline and set up, Motivation for receiving the grant, Contact info (telephone and email, address).

Sleep Science proudly announces a Special Issue on Narcolepsy.

Sleep Science is the official journal of the Latin American Federation of Sleep Societies and of the Brazilian Sleep Association. This journal focuses on the publication of high quality papers investigating sleep, chronobiology and related fields. Sleep Science is a peer-reviewed, open access, and free of charges journal; published quarterly and duly registered, both in printed version (ISSN nº1984-0659) and in digital version (ISSN nº1984-0063). The journal welcomes original studies and reviews in both in pre-clinical and clinical research. Regarding indexation, Sleep Science is currently under evaluation by Scopus and Medline/Pubmed Central, with a good prospect in both, mostly due to our good representativeness and because we are an open-source journal. Additionally, we are already indexed in Google Scholar.

We invite you to submit a manuscript for publication. The special issue on Narcolepsy is scheduled for December, 2013 and we will feel honored to publish your paper. This issue will be composed by Original articles in basic and applied research, reviews, overviews, opinions and case reports. The deadline for submission is in October, 2013.

Sleep Science

It is my pleasure to deliver to you the March edition of the ESRS newsletter.

I would like first to welcome the numerous new members of our society. We are growing and we hope that this trend will continue in the future. The board and its collaborators are as you will see indeed working hard to promote Sleep Research and Medicine in Europe.

We would like to thank all the contributors to the letter as well as Brigitte Knobl who managed its edition.

This letter is filled with a large number of contributions starting with the letter of our President, reports from our committees and of the European networks, the Assembly of National Sleep Societies (ANSS), and the announcements for upcoming events. It also contains the listing of the recipients of ESRS travel grant 2013. I would like to personally congratulate them. I’m convinced that it will give them a boost in their career.

We sincerely hope that you will enjoy reading these news, and we are already looking forward meeting you in Berlin next April for the second ”Sleep and Breathing” conference.

We also would like again to encourage you to visit our website to register your lab. We are indeed still missing the majority of the labs in our database and this is crucial to be visible worldwide. You can also tweet with us now if you register on our homepage.
